Thanks to all who helped make our Fall Community Outreach a success! The SMPS Research Triangle Chapter conducted a clothing drive in December 2009 (before the end of the tax year) with contributions to http://www.interactofwake.org/. Interact is a private, non-profit, United Way agency that provides safety, support, and awareness to victims and survivors of domestic violence and rape/sexual assault. The organization is supported through monetary donations as well as from items that are sold in the thrift store. Another way your clothing and item donations help is Interact’s Client Services gives vouchers to women who come to Interact which allows them to shop in the store for clothing and accessories.
SMPS Research Triangle was proud to support the Animal Protection Society of Durham in their 2008 Walk for the Animals. The walk was held on May 17, 2008 at Duke University's Wallace Wade Stadium.
The Animal Protection Society of Durham has been helping animals since 1970. The APS of Durham is a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting and providing shelter for all animals. Their mission is to educate the public about the humane care and treatment of animals, promote spay/neuter and encourage the adoption of homeless animals.
Thanks to strong member participation, SMPS-Research Triangle Chapter conducted a successful clothing drive in February, 2008. Contributions to Soroptimist International of Raleigh, NC's Professional Clothing Closet provide business-appropriate attire to low-income heads of household working with local agencies to develop the necessary skills to enter or re-enter the workforce .
