COMMUNICATIONS MANAGER

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing the company’s communication activities and platforms. Effectively promotes the company through creative content, internally and externally. Ensures company communication tasks, milestones, and goals are achieved, working within approved budgets.

Responsible for implementing service-specific communication efforts that support the company’s goals in market sales, market strategy, and market image. Coordinates with regional business units to assist with regional communication initiatives, when needed.

Role will be a fully integrated and collaborative member of the company’s sales, marketing, and communications team. Expectations are to work in a team environment with business development leadership and marketing team members located in various locations, but also possess the ability to work independently.

Relies upon experience, organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and market knowledge to ensure task completion in compliance with policies, procedures, and business strategies. Uses independent judgment to interpret internal and external priorities, and implement best practices.

Delivers exceptional writing, proofreading, editing, layout, and verbal communication skills critical to this role’s success and the success of the company’s communication efforts. Provides strong copywriting and content creation skills. Possesses media relations skills and experience. Manages time effectively with the ability to multitask on a daily basis.

PRINCIPLE AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

1. Develop annual communications plan for the company, with periodic reviews and reporting
2. Develop and produce high-quality, informative, and interesting communications regarding company projects, offices, personnel, awards, etc.
3. Manage communication content for company’s website, social media accounts, intranet, newsletters, press releases, blogs, advertising, etc.
4. Employ approved communication management system tools necessary to maximize performance
5. Actively seek content to provide for and maintain a current and balanced promotion of the company, regionally and company-wide
6. Develop and manage inbound and outbound marketing initiatives and promotions for the company, including campaigns in coordination with company’s CRM system
7. Collaborate with teams for new ideas and strategies regarding web and social media opportunities/amplification
8. Ensure all messaging is compliant, approved, and aligns with company’s key business strategies
9. Coordinate communication designs/layouts with marketing team to ensure branding alignment
10. Promote coordination and procurement of photography and video content to support planned messaging (i.e., project progress, personnel, events, etc.)
11. Assist with planning, developing, and promoting project and people award submissions
12. Assist with safety communication reviews and edits
13. Assist with planning, submitting, and promoting company industry rankings
14. Assist with proofing company boilerplate, project sheets, resumes, etc.
15. Assist company marketing team members with proposal development, when needed

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Initial skills required for this job are typically acquired through the completion of a Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or related field. Minimum 5 years applicable industry experience required. Experience with current technologies and best practices across multiple platforms a must.
